  • On the 11th November 2016 Department of human settlement hosted a workshop at Philani Development Centre about housing and urban development.
  • On the 4th November 2016 Ms Moroesi Pooe attended Ntirhisano awareness. Ntirhisano is a Programme initiated by Gauteng Premier David Makhura to deliver services to the community. All Government departments and other stakeholders eg. NPOs come together to bring their services to communities as well as refer them if there is a need to. As Philani we talk about our services, give information and register them in our database for the skills trainings.
  •  On the 28 September 2016 Philani Development Centre Celebrated Heritage Day at Philani – to recognises aspects of South African culture which are both tangible and intangible: creative expression such as music and performances, our historical inheritance, language, the food we eat as well as the popular memory.

Philani close financial year on a high note
Philani Community Development Centre held it’s AGM on Friday the 26th of August, where a clean audit was announced and the event was closed by the presentation of 2016/17 financial year resolutions.
The Event started at 11:30 opened by Philani choir asking for divine intervention ahead of the opening prayer. The welcoming of guests was done by MMC Councillor Gladys Khoza who was followed by M.s Moroesi Pooe for the introduction of guests.
Executive Member of Philani Mrs. Chrysoula Papamallis quickly followed to speak about the purpose of the day as Pastor Shaan Naapier who is the BOD Chairperson for the year 2015-2016 get ready with his report.
The Executive Director’s report was delivered by Executive Director & Founder of Philani Mrs Phyllis Malope, whose smile couldn’t be any bigger as she deliver’s her report.
The Grannies Luncheon Club representative gave a heart moving words of wisdom, where she advised young people to enrich themselves with skills that will boost their career, other than having “Blessers”. The youth at the AGM were not just impressed by her good vocabulary but also by her news awareness too. A lot other things were done on the day that include the handing down of certificates to students who were studying for various courses offered at Philani and the testimonies of beneficiaries of how Philani changed their lives.
The Programme Director of the day Mr Refiloe Qabang was very cautious with time, so is everyone who was a speaker on the day. The Philani Community Development Centre improved over the past years and it look forward in achieving its resolutions.

  • On the 17  July 2015 Philani Development celebrated Nelson Mandela Day with 60 Orphans & Vulnerable Children engaging them with educational activities regarding Mandela day also a short workshop about Mr Nelsoon Mandela’s life and why he fought for us to be free and educated. Philani Orphan care & Vulnerable handed over 60 school bags to 60 Vulnerable Children as a motivation To take their education serious as the former and late stalwart Mr Nelson Mandela propagated . We also send caregivers to go, clean and decorate a temporary accommodation which will be handed over to the Youth Headed Household on the 18 of July 2105. 
  • On the 06 june 2015 Naliba’l in partnership with Westonaria community club under the umbrella of PRAISE hosted the promotion of  literacy in communities.  Our centre manager Mrs. M.P Malope took part as a Motivational Speaker in the programme.

  • 25 November 2014 Philani Sustainable Livelihood referred 6 Cooperative to Gauteng Enterprise Propeller GEP for Starter Packs Interviews at Krugersdorp.
  • 17 November 2014 Commercial sex workers’ Dialogue – Presented by Chrysoula Papamallis Executive member and project manager of HCT attended and presented relocation and rehabilitation in socio-economic mainstream through exit strategy and skills development.
  • 12 November 2014 Philani Advice Centre referred 12 beneficiaries for assessment test to qualify for a bursary for 2015 academic year at Westcol FET College
  • 18 October 2014 Philani Community Development Centre hosted the Planting of Trees Event. The trees and tools were donated by Bright Kid Foundation in partnership with UPS and Food and Trees for Africa.

  • Philani HIV/AIDS Programme has exited 7 EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme) Volunteers in August 2014 to National Youth Service Learnership under the West Rand District Municipality.
  • Philani Peer Education Programme has successfully exited 15 Peer Educators and 4 Site Facilitator to the Gauteng Department of Health as Community Health Workers and Lay Counsellors and they successfully signed contacts with their nearest Clinics and Sub District of Health.
  • Mandela Day- 18/07/2014 became a successful Event as Philani had visitor from the Anglo Gold Ashanti and Department of Social Development and 10 Blankets where distributed to Grannies (Philani Luncheon Club) and 13 Blankets to OVC’s (Child headed Households).
  • On the 25th July 2014 Philani successfully hosted an Annual General Meeting 2013-2014 at Nufcor Hall and the Community, Counsellor G.Khoza and the Board of Directors gave their support as the Financial Officer presented the financials of all programmes successfully.
  • BURSARIES- 12 Beneficiaries where referred  to Western FET College for Business Studies at N4-N6 (National Certificate) and they were all successfully registered and received they study material.
  • ABET – 10 Beneficiaries were referred to Gold Fields Mine ABET for Grade 12 and 7 Beneficiaries for Grade 11 and 10.
  • On the 25-29 May 2014 the Philani Executive Director Mrs. Phyllis Malope Attended a Woman Advancement Forum at Banjul Gambia- Woman Advancement Forum is the most Attended Global Gender Conference. WAF is a Platform which recognises the obvious foot that Woman Advancement and Empowerment is amongst the most Outstanding Agent to the actualization of millinium development goals (MDG’s) and even beyond.
